Story
This July , I will be attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. It is a climb of 5,895 meters (19,341 ft) and will take me seven days to complete. I will be walking long distances every day, as well as eating and sleeping on the mountain. This is a huge challenge and will push me to the limit!
So why do it? On the 20th October 2019, I got a phone call to tell me my very good friend Cameron Gibson had taken his own life. Cameron was always extremely full of adventure. If he wasn't found hiking the Munros, he was surfing or cycling around Scotland. He loved the outdoors, and was an inspiration to all of his peers to get out and explore. This has motivated me to take on the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro with the goal of raising money for a cause close to my heart.
In total there will be 28 of us taking on this challenge. We are fundraising on behalf of ALPS ( All Lives Are Precious) and plan on raising as much as we can to allow the ALPS team and their partner organisations to continue the vital work that they do in the area of Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention across the country, but especially in our community. I know the organization very well and know the vital benefits that they provide to our community.
. All Lives Are Precious is a community based Mental Health initiative established to help you. They offer support and services on emotional wellbeing, mental health education & suicide prevention. As an organization they rely entirely on volunteers, and financial assistance from the private and public sector, as well as help from members of the public.
Any donation you can make is done by means of a voluntary contribution to the organization and will be most gratefully received.
Thank you in advance for your support and for assisting to make a difference in the lives of many.
