I'm raising £750 to Raising money for MTW Children’s services, paediatrics departments including paediatrics A&E.

Over the Christmas break this year, like many, we took our baby son to the local hospital for with a chest infection as advised by our GP. The doctor then prescribed an antibiotic, double checked by a paediatrician and triple checked by the pharmacist. This prescription turned out to be 10 times the safe dose for our baby and inevitably made him even more poorly. Obviously we have raised complaints with the relevant governing bodies however the way I look at it is that a more effective way to improve for the next child’s in need, is to raise funds for the department so they can improve for the next child’s care or god forbid if we ever need to use them again.
Since speaking with people who have had similar issues, I’ve realised that simply complaining isn’t as effective as it should be. One baby had the exact same issues 7 years ago and the hospitals response was “we will add this to staff training”… but clearly that was swept under the rug!
So….. Over the span of 2025, I will be completing a 2000+ miles cyclothon to raise much needed money for the paediatrics department including paediatrics A&E.
This will be split into 12 monthly challenges, increasing in difficulty as the year goes on, culminating in a 300miles ride in December which after this mornings ride home from Halfords, I am miles off of!!!
Please give whatever you can!! 💙
