Story

The UK’s 1st Gladiator Champion Weininger Irwin is going Red Nose Crazy by doing TWO events in one RED NOSE Fundraising Day he is rallying local schools to take part in the Cool Rowings Red Nose Challenge to raise as much money as possible for Red Nose Day. Then part two is for everyone, families and friends to create the LARGEST Soul Line Dance with a RED NOSE Morning Will Come Soul Line Dance for the nation performed live by the legendary soul singer Junior Giscombe and then danced by you our fantastic FUNdraising public!

He’s calling on all school’s with pupils in Reception to Year 2 children to be part of an historic annual event at the site which houses the Olympic Stadium, Copper Box Arena where Weininger participated in his first primary school sports day 50 years ago. For all successful registered schools, Weininger will deliver an Assembly of his win on the most successful sporting game show of the 1990’s, Gladiators. All children participating will be asked to become Red Nose Beacon Fun-draisers. They are encouraged, through sponsorship forms to generate funds for this fantastic Comic Relief Cool Rowings Red Nose Day Challenge at the Copper Box Arena on Friday 8th March 2024.

This fundraising event is so much more as it introduces Reception - Yr 2 Children to an activity and extraordinary occasion. It ticks curriculum requirements for Physical Education, naming muscles used in the activities, and understanding how they work. Equally important the participants challenge themselves whilst participating in a team. The children will further develop their oral communication skills as they (supported by Teaching Staff,Parents/Carer), seek sponsorship for a project that is nationally recognised and heralded as one of the largest nationwide charitable events in the UK.

Part 2 is you, your friends and your family to get together and participate in a dance choreographed by Weininger Irwin for this amazing day of an immersive-ness with the UK's own Junior Giscombe performing live.

Weininger Irwin was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2020, and since then has made a real impact in charitable fundraising as in 2022 he rowed for 24 hours in the Liberty Shopping Centre (Romford) and in 2023.

With his Ageless Teenagers (Pensioners) and local school children, they rowed the length of the Elizabeth line (Heathrow to Shenfield) by taking indoor rowing machines to each station and rowing the distance.

It’s 2024, and Weininger would like your help by making your school part of an historic fun-draising event. Let’s work together to make the

maximum impact with this new initiative by raising as much money and awareness for Red Nose Comic Relief and raise awareness of Prostate Cancer & Youth Violence.

We are asking the nation to come together and make a difference to people’s lives both here in the UK and internationally. It all culminates in a massive night of comedy and entertainment live on the BBC.

Of the money raised by the public through Red Nose Day, 50% supports the projects we fund right here in the UK and 50% supports projects internationally. If you want to know more about the campaign, please visit www.comicrelief.com

Funds raised for this initiative will contribute to the operating costs of the event and donations to the RED NOSE DAY COMIC RELIEF 2024
