    Update 20th April 2021:

    Hi all,

It's fantastic! We have now raised 1000 GBP for the Coppetts Wood Conservationists for the maintenance of the Coppetts Wood and Glebelands Local Nature Reserves. We are very grateful for all donations and the support we have received from you. Especially a very big donation recently made it possible for us to reach our target, which made us tremendously happy. Thank you ever so much!

Due to funds raised and many more volunteers, we have cleared the wood of a large amount of invasive plants, seeded more wildflowers, cared for 200 new trees, dug more ponds and now also have a brand new lawnmower and strimmer to help us keep the paths clear of nettle and bramble.

If you want to join us working on Sundays, please send us an email on coppettswoodconservationists@gmail.com

Thanks again and we will work relentlessly on safeguarding the wildlife and plants in this wonderful green space, which soon will be in full bloom.

    Best regards, Petra

_____________________________________________________________________________Update 8th Feb 2021: Since the last update the funds have continued to come in. Thank you very much for each donation! We’ve been able to buy some much-needed tools and replacement parts for some of our equipment – on top of the a new lawn mower and brush cutter, which we’ll keep busy this spring and summer.

In the last few months we’ve been tidying up our ponds for the newts, frogs and other pondlife, repairing paths and fences, removing invasive saplings (and replacing them with over 200 native trees so far). We’re also busy installing lots of bird and bat boxes, and we’re now planning for better drainage for our paths and more repairs to some of our fences.

There’ll be a lot of hard labour involved, so if you’d like to give a hand or help with our other conservation work (when Covid rules allow), please send an email to coppettswoodconservationists@gmail.com

Thank you again for all your support – this means a lot for us and we will keep working hard to improve Coppetts Wood for wildlife and the public!

    Best regards, Petra

Update 19 Nov 2020: Knocked out by the initial response, and we're already able to afford a new lawnmower and brushcutter - many thanks! But every extra pound will help: we still need to fix our muddy paths, re-erect some broken fencing and buy new plants to turn our pond into a spectacular habitat.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Co-Chair of our local volunteer group, I’m appealing for your help to preserve the biodiversity of this wonderful green space and to keep it accessible for the public to enjoy.

Coppetts Wood and Glebelands Nature Reserve is part ancient woodland, part rewilded refuse site. Today, the Coppetts Wood Conservationists look after an amazing range of habitats and biodiversity, with hedgehogs, tawny owls, slow worms and rare bat species – and a fabulous array of pondlife.

By the end of this year our volunteers will have created three new wildflower meadows, restored three ponds and planted over a hundred new trees. We’ve also worked hard to keep the paths clear of bramble and nettles. However, we rely entirely on public donations for all the equipment we need to do our work.

With our annual spring festival derailed by the coronavirus, funds are running critically low. Please chip in now so we can buy the tools we urgently need. Help us maintain the nature reserve as a vital sanctuary for wildlife and people alike – and to keep it out of the hands of developers.

Hi all, Thank you very much for your overwhelming support to Coppetts Wood Conservationists. We can now buy a lawnmower and brushcutter to maintain the paths and meadows. With more donations coming in we could start new projects: fixing the muddy paths, re-erect broken fencing and buy new plants to turn our pond into a spectacular habitat. Therefore we have decided to continue raising funds. For updates on our work, please follow us on Facebook: coppettswood or send us an email on coppettswoodconservationists@gmail.com. Hi there, this is a donation on behalf of our Yoga at the Library group. We held a special bird themed yoga class and had birdsong as our soundtrack. Many thanks for your hard work.
