Story

Last summer I developed a mysterious, debilitating illness which I have now learned to be Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.

As a result of this I have mobility problems and struggle to walk even short distances. As you can imagine, this has led to me leading a very confined life as leaving the house to do anything is too difficult with my illness.

I need a wheelchair so that I can get part of my life back again. I’m (along with hundreds, if not thousands, of other disabled people) unable to get help with mobility aids on the NHS. Because of my illness I can only work part time so I’m unable to pay for the whole thing myself, otherwise I would.

The kind of chair I need is a powered folding chair, as I would not be able to propel myself using a manual chair, and I do not have the space for a non-folding one. The cheapest of these cost about £2,000.

I would really appreciate any support you’re able to give - whether it’s £10 or £1000!

Thanks.
