I am fundraising for a gap medics work experience placement in Tanzania.

Gap Medics is a specialist company dedicated to providing year-round hospital work experience for medicine, midwifery, nursing and dentistry abroad to students 16 years and over.

I will spend 23 hours of the week shadowing a doctor in one of Tanzania's hospitals during ward rounds and in surgery learning about the differences between healthcare at home and in developing countries overseas. As well as my time in the hospital, I’ll receive a number of specialised global health tutorials by my mentors, these one-hour sessions will put into context any issues relevant to healthcare in my region. For instance, in Tanzania I'll learn about HIV as it is a big problem there.
In the evenings and weekends I will spend my time volunteering at local orphanages, giving my time to children who just need someone there to play with and talk to.

This programme will provide me with credible experience to support my UCAS application to medical school which I am applying to in September and will be attending in 2017. As most of you will be aware achieving a place at medical school is very competitive and I am doing my upmost to have the best application possible.
However above all, I will benefit from gaining an in-depth understanding of the disparities in global healthcare.

Your money will help me to pay for my placement with Gap Medics. This includes my hospital placement, accommodation, food, in-country and UK support, and of course, a donation to the hospital.
With your help, I will be able to attend this incredible trip and have an experience of a lifetime.
