Story
In 2006, when I visited some rural schools in China, the school principals and teachers all asked me if I could teach English to their students. English is one of the three core subjects in the school curriculum, and the one that rural children struggle with the most. The poor quality of English teaching in rural areas makes it much harder for rural children to go to university and get good jobs, perpetuating the poverty gap. I set up an organisation called Stepping Stones to recruit and train volunteers to teach English to rural Chinese children, and now I need your help to send more volunteers to rural schools. For only £450 (£21 per day!), we can send one more volunteer to a rural Chinese school for 3 weeks. Please contribute whatever you can to help and encourage children with their English learning.
