Story

Paul Cornell (Cornell's) - Memorial Fund

It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Cornell. Father, grandfather, husband and proprietor of Cornell's furnishings.

Having started his career alongside his father at the family shop in Leyton High street as an upholsterer he later opened his own shop in Braintree in the mid 1980s where he remained.

The shop played such a huge part in my fathers life and having filled in for him delivering at weekends during his illness I have been genuinely touched by peoples kind wishes throughout these last few months. I'm certain he never really fully appreciated how much he was liked and how much he touched other peoples lives beyond just selling chairs and beds.

In line with his wishes the funeral arrangements will be a small family affair although we would also like to provide people a way to pay their respects and in doing so help a charity that was close to his heart.

Dad's love of greyhounds starter at an early age, he grew up with them as part of the family who trained and raced dogs for a while.

Dad had a rescue greyhound himself 'Donnie', it was amusing that the dog mostly ignored my dad although in the final days he could be found by the side of fathers bed.

If you'd like to know more about how your money will be put to use or are interested in re-homing or helping a rescued or retired greyhound please visit the Clarks Farm website link below:
