You are warmly welcome to join our event (part of Diversity Festival) to support the Chinese, East Asian and South Eastern Asian communities to tackle hate crime. On 11 March at our Webinar ‘No place for hate in higher education: Through the lens of Asia and Covid-19', I will tell our inspiring story of fundraising. Covid-19 has led to racially aggravated offences. Police record shows that victims identified as ‘oriental’ experienced ‘a five-fold increase in racist crimes between January and March of 2020’.

I am pleased to let you know that together we have raised £4,184 and RMB 1,000 yuan to support the City of Ningbo. The fund has enabled us to purchase seven much needed hi-tech handdigital thermometres for Ningbo No.1 Hospital to be used by medical staff at different sites in the local community. Thanks once again to all of you. We have raised a whooping £4,184 as of the 12th March 2020, more than quadrupling our initial target! This is all down to your generosity and support! With support from Michael Ying, my colleague based at UNNC, a batch of digital handheld thermometer will be presented to Ningbo No. 1 Hospital in the coming days. This will enable medical staff at different locations and mobile sites across the community to monitor the well-being of the public, and has been a much-needed device in China to battle Covid-19.
