Story

I know it looks like we've raised no money, but: We've done so well (raised over £800 including gift aid), that Just Giving has asked me to pause the fundraising activities whilst they send the monies to our chosen charities! In the meantime, please donate here instead!

Pink Week was started by Nina Rauch at her school in celebration (Nina prefers “celebration” over “memory”) of her mother Dina Rabinovitch—a journalist and breast cancer activist—who passed away of breast cancer. Nina brought Pink Week to Cambridge in 2014.

This week (5–11th February 2023) of university events aims to entertain but also educate students and university staff about breast cancer while raising money and helping charities continue the fight against the illness.

This week is very important for many people around Cambridge, as it is also an opportunity for celebration and remembrance of those who fight and have fought in our own community. Despite being one of the most common cancers—1 out of 8 women will fight breast cancer in their lives—it is also one of the most stigmatised.

This is why having us students involved in Pink Week is so significant. The priority is to engage a new generation of people in the fight against breast cancer, whether their lives have already been impacted by the illness or not. It is never too early to learn and donate!
