The Nomad Trust has plans to build a new centre which will offer accommodation and day care services to homeless people in Lincoln. This will improve the services currently on offer by being purpose built, and also because services will be available during the day.

Currently homeless people in Lincoln have nowhere to go during the daytime, and services available to them during daytime hours are limited and provided by many different agencies. By bringing services together in a single place which also offers accommodation Nomad will be able to provide better support for these vulnerable people, and work with them to deal with the issues that they face in a constructive way, leading to changed outcomes in their lives.

I am going to be spending 'a week on the streets' in order to experience something of what homeless people in Lincoln face on a day to day basis. I will be keeping a blog of my experiences and hope to raise awareness of the fact that there are people sleeping on the streets of our city, and to give people a glimpse of what that is really like. I am also hoping to raise funds towards the proposed new Nomad Centre in the process.
