Story
Having spent the past few years working with elderly and disabled adults, I have realised that there is a shortage of social opportunities for those who have no family close by, or are limited by certain factors in their lives.
I am starting up a range of classes and social groups for anyone to be able to join in and attend, no matter the ability. We will primarily be focussing on craft style classes such as knitting, painting, art therapy, sewing and card making, with a view to expand into more advanced evening classes. The social groups / classes with be free or by donation, in order to make sure no-one is excluded from this opportunity.
We will also be collaborating with local schools / colleges where young adults with learning disabilities might not otherwise get an opportunity for work experience, to offer a chance to work at the centre and learn some social skills.
We have secured a location to rent, however need to fund the start up costs and overheads for the first few months while we develop the business to firm up a regular income stream.
