£1,960raised of £1,500 target by 85 supporters

Weʼve raised £1,960 to raise money for: The Yorkshire Air Ambulance, The British Heart Foundation and Mind by swimming from Nevis to St Kitts.

Funded on Wednesday, 8th May 2019

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Thank you for visiting my page. I am going to swim ’The Narrows’- an organised channel swim between the islands of St Kitts and Nevis - on Sunday March 31st 2019 in memory of my mum and in order to raise money for the life saving work carried out daily by the Yorkshire air ambulance staff, British Heart Foundation researchers and Mind.

These are causes very close to my heart. It costs the air ambulance service £12,000 a day to operate their two aircraft, which cover the entire Yorkshire region. There are currently 7million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases which are also responsible for 1/4 of all deaths in the UK. Every penny raised on this page will go directly to these two charities and Mind. I have self funded the travel, accomodation and entry fee for my race and will be taking part during the school Easter break.

On December 15th 2018, my Dad found my mum un-responsive at home. The effort and care of the NHS paramedics and Yorkshire Air Ambulance doctors was outstanding but unfortunately there was nothing more that they could do to save her life. Due to the shock of the events, my dad then suffered a heart attack and was rushed away by the same team of professionals for an emergency procedure at the Leeds General Infimary. He spent the next 9 days, over the busy Christmas period, recovering on the coronory care ward at Pinderfields hospital In Wakefield.

I am determined to give back, to help support the medical professionals who have helped me and my family over the Christmas period and to complete the personal challenge of the swim in memory, on mother‘s day.

Just keep aiming for Nevis, moving your arms in circles, avoid sharks and barracuda and you can't go wrong. Pro advice at its best. Go well - a brilliant way to remember your mum.
