Story
Cowes Sailability Club’s wheelchair accessible boat, Dougal, has been providing boating opportunities for disabled people on the Isle of Wight for nearly ten years. However, with a low freeboard, open deck and relatively small engine, she can only cover short distances and be used in good weather. Our dream is to replace Dougal with a larger, 9-meter motor catamaran that can convey more disable people to more destinations, more often. To make our dream a reality, we really need your help to raise £131,000. So, please take a moment to make affordable donation.
Wendy says - I have always been very fond of the seaside. It has been one of my goals for many years to sail on the ocean, but with my disability I thought I never would. Cowes Sailability Club has made it possible and I am thrilled to bits! I look forward to my sessions at Cowes Sailability Club, not just to sail but to be part of such a fantastic group of people. I am ready for my challenge!!
Elbie says - The very nature of me volunteering a few hours means I can make a difference in someone’s life. Throughout my time volunteering I laugh, I cry, I questioned life, I met some amazing people, but most of all, I’m not ready to give up my volunteering. “
Help us realise the dream and help us to purchase a new accessible boat. Thank you.
