I've raised £1000 to Help create and support an environmental protection group to preserve and protect the Chidham Peninsula for future generations

The Chidham Peninsula Protection Group (CPPG) is a group motivated to protect the unique, unspoilt rural environment of the Chidham Peninsula. It is an area with unbridled access to the shores and the waters of the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
CPPG has been formed by ordinary everyday local people who are united in their dedication to bring together all those stakeholders who enjoy the unique beauty of this sparsely populated peninsula, which provides amenity value to walkers, birdwatchers, runners, sailors, fishermen, cyclists...to mention but a few.
Development within the AONB is something which concerns not just those who live in this beautiful part of Southern England – it is surely a concern for all those who come here to visit.
The pressures being exerted on local communities to build more and more houses is becoming critical – anyone who knows the A259 will already be very concerned at the level of development and the stress being placed on the local road network, infrastructure and services.
The first challenge we face relates to a number of would-be developers who are seeking through what is known as an Existing Lawful Development application to exploit a historical planning grant dating from 1937. The application if successful will circumvent all modern planning laws which effectively protect the AONB. Consequently, it could set a very dangerous precedent not just for the Chidham Peninsula and the Chichester Harbour AONB but also for other AONBs nationally.
This Just Giving Page will allow CPPG to raise funds to help us to defend the unique benefits of the Chidham Peninsula for the benefit of all future generations.
