Story

Crackington Haven Surf Life Saving Club is a volunteer-led organisation, dedicated to improving the safety of our beaches and seas.

Founded on 22/09/1959 to train and support lifeguards for local beaches. We provide ocean lifesaving coaching to members age 7+

Nippers

Younger members learn about the sea and beach environment, becoming familiar with different types of waves, tides and rip currents to allow them to assess risk and stay safe. They start to develop general first–aid, lifesaving techniques and learn about lifeguard flags and signals. Nippers must be able to swim 50m competently in pool or sea.

Juniors

From 13 to 16 members build on their lifeguarding skills aiming for qualifications in lifeguarding and the coveted Beach Lifeguard Award. This is an internationally recognized standard for beach lifeguards worldwide. Many RNLI lifeguards on our beaches are graduates of their local Surf Lifesaving club.

Seniors

Adult members provide the coaching and water safety support needed to run the training sessions, on a volunteer basis.

We are currently fundraising to purchase some new equipment (rescue boards, rescue tubes etc) and to support the club to help us educate more people and promote water safety in Crackington Haven.
