Story

Every four years the World Movement of Scouting arrange an International Jamboree. The Jamboree is an opportunity for Scouts from around the world to meet up, exchange scouting ideas, sample new cultures and cuisines, and have amazing experiences, along with having a fantastic time with their own unit members.

There are expected to be 40,000 scouts from over 150 countries along with their leaders and International Service Team members (event staff) all of whom are encourage to fundraise their share of the costs, with the adult leaders all being unpaid volunteers.

Following a selection process in September 2021, I was selected by East Lancashire Scouts as the Deputy Unit Leader for, what has been named by the young people, Unit 49 - East Lancashire Hotpots.

Our 36 young people were selected in October and now our fundraising begins!

With a collective target of around £160,000, each unit participant and leader is doing their bit to get there with hitting that target.

Over the coming months many activities will take place from supermarket bag packs to virtual balloon races, from Gin Nights to bike rides, all geared towards our collective target.

Any support you can give towards this Jamboree experience would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks on behalf of Unit 49, East Lancashire Hotpots!
