Story
87 Miles. 48 Hours. All for Hatherleigh Primary SEND and inclusion.
Thank you for visiting my page. On Friday 23rd October 2026, I am launching the biggest physical and mental endurance challenge of my life since leaving the British Army.
I am taking on a grueling, continuous 86.9-mile multi-leg walking circuit across Devon, aiming to finish in under 48 hours.
I am doing this to raise vital funds directly for Hatherleigh Community Primary School’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) programs.
Why This Cause Matters: This fundraiser is deeply personal. Our neurodiverse pupils are incredible, but they need the right resources to truly thrive. In September, I am meeting directly with the school to review exactly where our funds will make the biggest impact. 100% of the proceeds from this challenge will go toward:
Specialised sensory equipment.
Tailored learning tools.
Inclusive activities for SEND students.
The Personal Battle: Walking with PAES Aside from the massive distance, this trek is a severe medical battle. I live with Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome (PAES), a rare vascular condition where my calf muscles compress the main artery to my lower legs during exercise. This severely restricts blood flow and causes intense, chronic pain. Every single mile will be a hurdle. However, I chose this specific hardship because the physical barriers I face on the road directly mirror the daily resilience, effort, and determination shown by SEND students as they navigate the world. If they can fight their battles every day, I can fight this one for 48 hours.
The Route & Logistics: This is a massive logistical operation broken into six demanding legs, pushing straight through the dark and cold of late October.
Leg 1 (20.5 mi): Hatherleigh School to Great Torrington | Fri 9:00am – Fri 6:07pm
Leg 2 (15.0 mi): Great Torrington to Chulmleigh | Fri 6:30pm – Sat 1:13am (Into the dark)
Leg 3 (21.7 mi): Chulmleigh to Okehampton Hub | Sat 1:30am – Sat 11:14am (Through the night)
Mandatory Sleep Window: Okehampton Hub | Sat 11:15am – Sat 5:15pm (6-hour medical rest)
Leg 4 (10.2 mi): Granite Way to Lydford | Sat 5:45pm – Sat 10:21pm
Leg 5 (10.2 mi): Granite Way back to Okehampton | Sat 10:45pm – Sun 3:22am
Leg 6 (9.31 mi): Okehampton back to Hatherleigh School | Sun 4:56am – FINISH Sun 9:00am sharp
I am incredibly lucky to have a dedicated support crew of five close friends travelling down from Hereford to manage the support wagon, handle the checkpoints, and keep me fueled.
