Story

I have decided to mentor/sponsor Matt and many have suggested they would like to contribute. I will be sponsoring him £100+ per month, but your help would be much appreciated, so Matt can finish his journey and enjoy a life that has so far been denied him...Please read his story:

Imagine: Your 15 years old and you awake from a coma after being run over and you have no recollection of your previous life. You find out that you have never had a family that wanted you and spend your whole life in social care. I met this fella when he was 22 years old, unmotivated and with lots of bad habits. Whilst living in a hostel I worked with him for 10 weeks. He did very little in the form of exercise, but we talked and I sold the idea that exercise can change your stratification. He believed all his problems were due to brain damaged suffered in his accident, but it soon became obvious he was depressed and with no real support he allowed the train of thought to continue and develop. 2 years of positive, progressive training saw him grow as a person, he wanted to get rid of his invalidity tag, he wanted to be and do better. We developed his CV, got courses and eventually he got work. He's now worked for 12 month but the sad thing is he's still sofa surfing. He's working nights and said he's looking for a 2nd job, zero hours contract that he can work around his other job. To me this attitude deserves my support and from January I will sponsor him to get his driving licence and then hopefully his HGV. If anyone would like to be a part of this journey or would like to know more let me know or maybe you have read this and feel compelled to help someone you know that deserves a little nudge in the right direction. I have had tough times through out my life, but I have always had support. I have rattled on a bit but if sharing this message sparks just 1 other person into action then it's worth it :) All monies will be spend on giving Matt a fighting chance to succeed and if the monies surpass his needs I will endeavour to help others who are not needy, but need help.

Matts Testimonial is slightly out dated, but these are his words:

Before training I never did anything, I thought this world wasn't for me and didnt have a place in it. I was on drugs, not eating properly, not wanting to do anything in my life, but then I met Craig. Craig made me feel like anything is possible, so much has changed over the last 12 months. I dont feel like the same person that I use to be. I enjoy everything I do now whether it is training, jogging or even walking. I enjoy making the right choices and becoming better as a person. Craig has changed the way I think about things. Im trying not to be negative and can feel myself finding positive answers. Spending time with Craig, Lindsay and Lesa I now want to help people like me and show them it can get better. I no longer take drugs, I eat 3 meals a day and I am now volunteering at Petrus, the soup kitchens and about to help someone learn to read better. It makes me feel like I'm worth something. Craig has also started making me a CV for when I am ready to work. I see myself getting a job helping people and I now see that there is a place for me in the world and dont think it would be better without me. Since writing this testimonial Matt has improved his qualifications and gained employment.
