Story
Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know all about my latest fundraiser – a Family Fun Day in honour of my wife Ange’s birthday and the incredible commitment that she showed over the years to raising money for local charities. Although she is no longer with us, I know she would want me to carry on fundraising, so “Angefest” it is.
Location
The event will be held at Ulverston Sports and Social Club, Priory Road, Ulverston. The main bar will be open for the event as well as outside areas.
What’s Happening
The day will begin with a charity motorbike ride, organised and led by two local bikers, Ian Athersmith and Geoff Bennett. This will begin between 9:00am and 10:00am depending on the final route, concluding at the Sports Club around 1:00pm to kick off the family fun day. Please contact either organiser for more information and if you wish to participate.
We have a fantastic live music line-up that will take place over the entire day, including music from:
Route 66
Reuben Tighe Music
Ade White
Chris Garrat
Martin Smith
and more.
We will have local trade stalls, including hot food, ice cream, craft stalls and more.
There will be hovercraft rides organised by Ulverston Inshore Rescue to keep the kids (and big kids) entertained throughout the day.
There will be bouncy castles and face painting, throughout the day as well as many small games to play.
There will also be a range other activities on the day
This is an initial message to gauge interest and hopefully gather some ideas and support from the local community.
Your Part
We need your ideas; we need to know what local families would like to see on the day so that we can best cater for everyone who would like to join in on the fun. Any suggestions, no matter how large or small, are very welcome. These suggestions can be made directly to Craig Mcphillips or myself, by direct message or by commenting on this post directly.
My Part
So I've had long hair and a moustache for as long as I care to remember, but, I will also be dyeing my hair and tashe flamingo pink shortly to be shaved off completely on the evening of the 27th, all in aid of our charities, please sponsor/donate kindly.
This will never happen again!!
The Charities
1. Lookin GOOD and Feelin GREAT
A wonderful cancer support group who helped us tremendously during our journey. Their practical and emotional support for local families going through the process of cancer diagnosis, treatment and aftercare is truly special.
2. Andy's Man Club
A group that have made a huge impact to so many lives in recent years. Their volunteers give countless hours to support men's mental health and make a huge difference both locally and nationally.
I can’t do this alone. If anyone can spare a few hours on the day to help, it would mean the world.
If any local business would like to support/sponsor the event, please contact either Craig Mcphillips or myself. Banners and advertisement can also be discussed as this event is in support of our community and the many brilliant people and businesses within it.
Thank you for all your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you on the day.
For the daredevils amongst you, there will be a charity skydive organised for roughly 3 weeks before the family fun day, with proceeds going to the two charities above. This will be a tandem skydive from approximately 16,000ft and we have already had our first volunteer - Yve Duck. If you would like to join the skydive team, we are looking for as many volunteers as possible.
For more details on the skydive, please contact me directly. There will be more details to follow.
Many many thanks,
Mike Mc
