Story

We are raising £5,000 for Radio Skye's Cram the Van Christmas Toy Appeal

Radio Skye are getting set for this year’s Cram the Van Radiothon ‘48 Hour Live’. The event sees presenters take on a full 48 hours of broadcasting with back-to-back shows throughout the day and night on the 1st of October through to Saturday the third. The fundraising is all part of the stations Christmas Toy Appeal that supports over 250 young people from infants to teens with presents and gift vouchers, now in its 13th year of running.

At 10am Young presenters Robert John MacInnes and Sam MacLelland will be bracing themselves for the first 24 hours for the third year in a row, kicking off the fundraiser with a whole host of guests, live sets along with plenty of on air shenanigans. Last year, they beat the target before they reached the end of their stint so the station is hoping for the same support this year.

Cram the Van last year saw over 250 children and young people supported with presents and gift vouchers and the station expects similar numbers again this year. Radio Skye is keen to encourage people to give early so they can buy vouchers and toiletry gift packs for the young people in the teenage age group. The main launch of the toy appeal will launch in November which will see the stations big red toy bins located across Skye and Lochalsh for people to donate brand new toys for the younger age groups.
