Story
Suicide rates are increasing in the UK with males aged between 50 and 54 registering as the most at risk. Our groups bring men together for meaningful and enjoyable activities ranging from walking groups to song-writing groups writing original music and making albums. The biggest surprise I've found working in this area is how much fun we have despite the hardships that the men we meet are facing. We urgently need support to continue our work in Leeds to meet the needs of our community of men. Please support us with whatever you can. Thank you.
The project has given the men hope when they are at their lowest ebb. Many are going through some of the darkest times in their life, struggling with a complex array of mental health challenges. It’s projects like this that pull them through when they’re struggling to cope. The prolonged duration of this project has had an enduring and impactful influence on mental health recovery. Themes emerging from the lyrics include freedom, loss, love, blue skies, and nature.
