Story

Black people are disproportionally affected by socioeconomic depravation. Amongst these groups structural racism have reinforced inequalities in housing, employment and the criminal justice system.

GIVING VOICES is a project that will tell the stories of racism and discrimination amongst Black young adults in Dudley.

Young artists of Black migrant and Jamaican descent will create a documentary will lead intergenerational work.

The documentary session will include 1 travel to Logolo Italy in February on an artistic residence where they will interact with different known artists and perform for the community in Logolo.

The intend of the project in addition to tell the stories of young people’s struggles with racism and discrimination in society, it will be anchored on cross disciplinary including film/storytelling / spoken word, music and dance to create awareness on social inclusion while emphasising the significance of using the arts to create social change.
