Story
CHARLOTTE'S LEGACY
Charlotte Eades died from glioblastoma, a particularly vicious form of brain cancer, in Feb 2016, just a week after her 19th birthday and after fighting her battle for 3 years. Charlotte was an inspirational and caring young woman, and received awards for her work in raising awareness of cancer in young people from Cancer Research UK and Clic Sargent, as well as achieving over 3/4 of a million views on her youtube channel: youtube.com/charlotteeades (which is still up and running).
Charlotte was the only daughter of my good friend Alex Eades, and the only sister of Miles, who is now aged 21.
Alex, Miles and I are setting up a charity to raise funds for and awareness of glioblastoma; although the charity itself will take a little while to establish we have identified a suitable drug/research trial.
So, Alex and Miles are walking 200 miles from Eastbourne to Winchester across the South Downs and back again this August - and we need sponsorship!
You can follow Alex and Miles and the route they are taking - and what happens along the way - by visiting twitter - @alexeades1 and Facebook - Charlotte's Legacy.
In the words of Charlotte's neuro-oncologist:
“the problem with brain cancer is that it always comes back…”
BUT
“if you can cure brain cancer, you can cure any other cancer…”
Can you help us make glioblastoma a thing of the past - please?

8 years agoI can't believe people are still donating when the walk ended almost 3 weeks ago - thank you so much. The blisters are healed, and plans are underway for the official charity launch towards the end of October, and a pre-Christmas fundraiser. In the meantime, Alex and Miles are the official 'faces' of the Stand Up to Cancer launch in the Sussex area.

Charlotte's mum Alex and I have known each other for around 40 years. Alex is amazingly strong, and despite her grief has taken the death of her beautiful, kind, loving and beloved daughter as an opportunity to try and help others with glioblastoma. I admire her infinitely.
