I've raised £10000 to help research an important book on political history

I am writing a memoir of the alleged racist general election campaign in Smethwick in 1964. My father was the Conservative campaign agent for Candidate Peter Griffiths. Despite the National Front hijacking the campaign to raise issues about the recent influx of Asians and West Indian people, Dad and Peter were vilified as causing a racist platform. Dad died two weeks afer the assassination of Black civil rights activist Malcolm X from America. Malcolm X had visited Smethwick and the emotional wave of hatred he left behind caused ripples still felt today. Immigration is a big issue still since many of those West Indians who came over, still arent accepted as British. Also the Rivers of Blood Speech written by Enoch Powell has hit the headlines on its 50th anniversary. I am the only person still alive who has access to data from that campaign and memories of inside the Conservative campaign office. I want to bring Smethwick out of the shadows of events in 1964 and put it back as the home of the Industrial Revolution.
