Thank you for taking the time to read about my upcoming challenge and how you can support me and join in.
Lincoln is my 2 year old cheeky little grandson. In December 2016 our family received news that no family member ever wants to hear, Lincoln had been diagnosed with the life limiting illness Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy or DMD as it is known currently has no cure. The disease effects all of Lincolns muscles, his body is unable to produce Dystrophin which means his muscles are unable to repair themselves and will eventually become fat and scar tissue. His life expectancy is currently only 20-30 years but with medical science advancing at the rate it is we are hoping that this number will ever increase.
This is where my challenge and you come in. Upon hearing the shock news I decided that I wanted to set myself a challenge to raise some money towards research. All money raised will be going to Duchenne UK. I thought for a while about what I could do then it came to me, why not walk from Crewe to Lincoln for Lincoln.
Below is the itinerary for the walk. I have several people joining me for the first part of the walk (if you would also like to join me please get in touch) afterwards we will return back to my house for a BBQ for those who would like to attend.
Day 1 Crewe - Mow Cop
South Chehire Way 20km (approx 8hrs) - returning home for BBQ you do not have to do all 8hrs the first part is very accessible and family friendly
Day 2 Mow Cop - Longnor Campsite
Gritstone Trail, Dane Valley Way 32km (approx 11hrs)
Day 3 Longnor - Youlgreave Hollow farm campsite
16km (approx 6.5hrs)
