Help the Homeless

Have you got any spare change please? Spare change?

Does the above sound familiar? This will be one of the interactions you encounter from entering Manchester City Centre, to leaving.

Last year I set up a page to crochet hats for the homeless for Christmas and due to its success, I am doing it again.

Since last year it has been more than obvious how the rates of homelessness have climbed, with one or more on every turn in the City Centre. It can be difficult to understand why more people are becoming homeless.

This year for EVERY donation, I'll crochet a hat, a pair of socks, gloves OR scarf for the homeless of Manchester. Every penny matters, no matter how big or small you give.

Like last year, the funds donated will be spread across Manchester's charities like Mustard Tree, Coffee for Craig, Barnabus and alike.

These are human beings, our own people. Lack of affordable housing for people on low incomes, relationship breakdowns, loss of private tenancy, loss of lodgings, benefits cap and bedroom tax, are just a few reasons why these people are in this situation.

There is no excuse.

Please donate. Homelessness is a hugely complex issue, but it doesn't mean we can't help. Donate and you could help keep someone warm this Winter. You could give someone a safe place to sleep, even if it's just for one night.
