Story

We stand shoulder to shoulder with our incredible friend, Catrin Ifan Lewis and her family as she bravely fights stage 4 bowel cancer.

Cats is 35 years old, a loving wife to Twm, and an amazing mother to two mischievous boys, Dafi and Gruff. She is a tough cookie, and we are so proud of her.

Her cancer was first diagnosed in November 2022, when she was only 33 years old, and she had an operation on her bowel. Unfortunately, the cancer had spread to the liver and lungs, and now some lymph nodes. She has undergone various chemotherapy treatment for nearly two years.

Recently, she received the news that she will be offered the last chemotherapy route available under NHS Wales. Following genetic testing, it is an inherited condition called Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). It is caused by a variation in the APC gene. This condition causes hundreds or thousands of growths (polyps) in the bowel, which usually start to appear when a person is a teenager. Possible treatment routes are available in private practices across the border in England, but they will cost tens of thousands of pounds, with some starting at a staggering price of £31,000.

We therefore appreciate any help you could offer whether by donating, sharing our fundraising page or helping to raise money through events.

A small group of us will be in charge of holding various events over the next few months, to give Cats the best possible chance to fight. Events and other activities will be shared on the following page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61566895497262
