Please join CSPP (Camel & Slaughterbridge Protection Project) in our campaign to stop Geothermal Energy Ltd (GEL) from building a huge power plant in Slaughterbridge on the edge of the River Camel, which could cause horrendous pollution that will have effects all the way to the sea. We are not against eco energy, but private companies need to make sure they build on sites that are not environmentally sensitive! This is an SSSI and SAC – designations that are given with good reason.

We are raising money to fund this campaign and secure the health of this protected environment for future generations.

We need to be heard and the louder our voices are, the better! So even if you're only able to donate a small amount, please do as it shows strength in numbers, the resilience of the Cornish spirit, the passion our visitors have for our countryside and our determination to safeguard our beautiful land and waters.

It is not Ok for companies to come into Cornwall with false promises and think they can build whatever they want, regardless of the cost to our wildlife and ecosystems.

It is our experience that GEL has failed to engage meaningfully with the local residents. Also, they have managed to avoid undertaking an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) - They CANNOT be allowed to get away with not being subject to proper scrutiny.

We cannot stand by and watch as a giant 55m drill tears down nearly 3 miles into the hillside, risking contaminants being drawn up out of the ground and polluting our river and groundwater. There is likely to be irreparable damage beneath the surface when the aquifer is poisoned forever, with consequences that include a contaminated river and drinking water, and unimaginable harm to wildlife.

We have seen how LOCAL VOICES have the power to stop these kinds of ruinous plans, including the 'Save our Bays' campaign that successfully fought off an industrial seaweed farm.
