Story
We set up a small group called Community Tai Chi Scotland to raise funds and keep our free online Tai Chi classes going after council funding was withdrawn in May 2023.
We now have around 40 participants, who join us to improve their physical wellbeing and to ease stress, anxiety, and mental health challenges. Over time we’ve become a close, supportive wee community where people not only benefit from Tai Chi, but also enjoy the laughter and banter we share together.
The group is run entirely by volunteers, with the only cost being the class tuition fee. Our Teacher, Jamie kindly teaches from his garden, which helps keep our expenses to a minimum.
Our goal is to double our membership, giving more people the chance to experience Tai Chi for free. Longer term, we hope to become self-sufficient with a very small monthly fee.
The benefits of Tai Chi are well known: building strength in the legs and joints, improving balance, managing pain, maintaining mobility, boosting fitness and energy levels and supporting mental health, reducing anxiety and stress levels.
💫 You are warmly invited to join us — and donations of any size are gratefully received to help keep our classes running.
