Story
I had an idea during my geography homework and I think it is a good one, but I really need your help. I want to raise £2,500 to buy a water pump for a rural village in India. Its my year 8 school project (and I am starting it in year 6) because i think its going to take me some time.
Living a life without safe water is a hard one and families spend many hours a day fetching water, something which we take for granted from a nearby tap or fountain. Often this means that the children cannot even get to school because they spend the whole time fetching water sometimes 20 miles away. I thought it would be great to get them clean water so they are safe and can go to school.
I learnt about a Brighton based charity called drop4drop which encourages projects to raise money to buy and install water pumps to provide safe water for rural villages in India and Africa. I realized that if I could organize lots of small money making actions, we could make a big difference to a whole community.
I go to a school everyday and don’t need to think about getting ill from dirty water or where my next drink of water comes from when I’m thirsty. I would love it if I could help organise many small actions to make a big result so that children have clean water.
This is why I am going to organise a project to sell lots bottles of water and make enough money through donations and hard work to buy a whole pump for some children in India.
