Weʼre raising £100 to buy essential doggy supplies for Fife Dog Rescue and Rehoming - donated to celebrate Cups' 1st birthday!
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Cups will be 1 year old on 25th February!
She came from Fife Dog Rescue and Rehoming Centre, and from a Romanian shelter before that. She's only been with us for about 6 months, but already life just wouldn't be the same without her.
To celebrate her birthday, we want to help other dogs receive the same care that Cups had before she found us - and to make sure they have the best chance of finding their forever homes.
I've asked Fife Dog Rescue and Rehoming Centre what they need most right now - so I'll be using the money raised to buy: food, bedding (blankets + towels), puppy pads and training toys, which I'll take into the Centre. It's a small, volunteer-run registered charity, SC048298. Find out about the Centre here: https://www.facebook.com/Fifedogrescue
Even £2 will buy a bag of treats to help with training and confidence... so whatever you can give will be so gratefully received! I'll share photos when I buy and deliver the donations to the Centre. And if we raise even more than the target, I'll ask the Centre what they would prefer - whether I buy more things they need for the dogs (maybe larger items like crates), or give the Centre a portion of the total as a cash donation.
And Cups wants to send you something to say thanks!
She doesn't quite understand the concept of birthday cards... she wants to send one to YOU! We've hand-made a run of 20 lino-cut printed cards - a special birthday image of Cups (photo to follow!)... so the first 20 of you will receive one of these in the post. (The cost of making and posting the cards is on me.) Just private-message me on Facebook with your address, or firstname.lastname@example.org
Here's Cups when she first arrived at our house, in August 2018. She was friendly but wary of new people. She was also very peaceful, and just wanted to be cuddled and reassured.
She soon found her favourite spot - curled up on a pile of cushions! She got used to her new home, new toys, and her new humans.
A brand new bed, all of her own...
Her confidence grew... she's great with other dogs, very playful and has made lots of friends where we live. Now she gets to run off-lead most of the time, and loves nothing better than to sprawl out in front of the fire.
Dogs just like Cups simply wouldn't be here if they hadn't been given space in a rescue centre. Which in turn frees up space in the Romanian shelters, for them to save thousands of other stray and abandoned dogs. The Fife Centre also takes owner-surrendered dogs and strays. The volunteers work hard to rehabilitate the dogs, assessing their behaviour over time, so they can find the right home for them. This is a crucial part of the process, which is why it's important to make their time at the Centre as comfortable as possible.
All the supplies we give will make a bunch of dogs happier, cosy, comfortable and fed - until the day they find their homes, like Cups did.
A huge THANK YOU - and mega-snuggles from Cups! xx
