CURC's World Record Challange

Cardiff University Rowing Club will be attempting to break 3 World Records for Longest Continual Row to raise money for the Charity CRY, Cardiac Risk in the Young and for our Club. To do this we will be keeping a rowing machine going continuously for nearly 4 days.

C.R.Y is an important charity for CURC as one of our members, Jenny Bucknell, passed away on 5th April 2011 at the age of just 23. It was later found that she had a heart condition called ARVC or ARVD, which is thought to be the second most common cause of unexpected sudden death in the young. Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) was formed in 1995 to raise awareness of conditions that can cause sudden death to young people; this includes ARVC. They facilitate screening, ECG testing and research into these conditions.

The money the club raises during this fundraising will go towards much needed boat repairs including the restoration of the memorial boat 'MUM'.

The three records we will be attempting to beat and the current times are;

Mixed 19 and under - 3 Days 14 Hours 10 minutes 8 seconds

Large Team Male 20-29 - 68 Hours 18 Minutes

Small Team Female 20-29 - 48 Hours

Please help us reach our target and Donate!
