Story
Cavenham Village Green has stood as a symbol of what a community can achieve when they band together for over 17 years. Over time our local green space has provided thousands of hours of play time in our playground. Hundreds of hours of learning to ride your bike on our bike track and any bbq's, picnics and community events that celebrate the community of our rural area and beyond.
The park is maintained and managed by a local group of volunteers who keep the grass cut, the bins empty and the gates to our wonderful park open.
As you can imagine, 17 years of wear and tear has taken it's toll and a playground that has raised an entire generation of kids is now in desperate need of replacement.
We have spent the last year applying for money from the National Lottery and local government and have successfully secured enough money (£9,000) through the Rural England Prosperity Fund to start phase one of the regeneration which has now been completed! We have used this money to replace the benches and trim trail. (The final design can be seen below).
Our total budget for the replacement of the equipment is £45,500 which breaks down into the following:
Phase One: £9,000 to replace the Trim Trail & Benches (Complete)
Phase Two: £11,500 to replace the play tower
Phase Three: £19,000 to replace the flat swings, cradle swings and basket swing.
Phase Four: £6,000 to add a toddlers play tower
We have worked so hard to come up with a final design for the playground that will enrich the lives of children of all ages with various types of swings, a trim trail, a play tower for toddlers and one for the older children. (The fantastic design is above.)
We are now asking for donations from the public to help us achieve phase two of the project that will allow us to urgently replace the play tower!
We know times are tight and every penny counts, but anything you can spare to help us achieve this project (that will bring so much joy to the lives of so many people in the years to come) will be greatly appreciated!
In return for your donation we will be offering the following perks:
£25: Adopt a brick! If you donate £25 we will paint your name onto one of the bricks that make up our community BBQ's
£50: Adopt a tree! If you donate £50 you can choose a tree in the park to adopt and we will pop a little plaque in place for all to see.
£100: Adopt a bench! If you donate £100 you can choose a bench in the park to adopt and we will pop a little plaque in place for all to see.
If you cant spare anything then maybe consider sharing our page as far and wide as you can to help us achieve our goal.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
