Story

Cycling Without Age - Seaford Chapter is a group of local volunteers and 'pilots', led by Pete Tattam. They are dedicated to taking local elders and care homes residents out on ‘trishaw’ cycle rides to feel the wind in their hair.

We want to bring generations closer together using special trishaws - three-wheel cycles with a passenger cab out front. They have electrical power assist, so you don't need to be super-sporty to be a volunteer cycle pilot. Our rides will be comfortable, fun and free.

Passengers will experience the town and nature close-up from the trishaw. We will provide opportunities for our elders to regain social connection and for people to tell their story in the environment where they have lived their lives.

Our work is intended to build bridges between generations and reinforce trust, respect and the social glue of our society. Our cycle pilots and passengers alike will enjoy the physical and emotional well-being benefits. The joy of riding in the trishaw cab will stimulate spirits to fly and stories to flow!

40% of funds raised so far, now is the final push!

We've already secured funding from some local residents, groups and charities, including, Cycle Seahaven, Seaford Bonfire Society, Sussex Police and ESCC. Thank you all for your generous support. We're now on our final push to get us over the line so please donate what you can to make a trishaw a common sight in Seaford.

Loan trishaw in Seaford

Here are some pictures from our days testing a loan trishaw - Annie. It was important we test a few routes to make sure she will fit through the bollards to the nature reserve and of course have some fun. She passed with flying colours and is a joy to use for both passenger and pilot.
