Bali Street Mums Project was first established in 2015 to aid the children and mothers begging on the urban streets of Bali.

The Safe House now provides refuge and a home for 65 children, 12 babies and 28 mothers . The children and mothers come from impoverished villages high up on the volcanic mountains of Bali. They come to the urban streets to beg. Begging is very dangerous for a child . Often children are kidnapped from the streets, trafficked and abused. We rescue children from horrific circumstances. It is these children that live at our Safe House, receiving care, counselling , schooling and safety.

They are also providing meals, schooling and care for the children who live in the slums next to our Safehouse. Many of these children's parents lost their precious jobs last year due to the Covid crisis. The children are now suffering from malnutrition and illnesses. Each day we cook a nutritious breakfast and lunch for the 40 children who come from the slums . Our biggest expense is rice (which we also distribute to the families) so 25 kilos of rice is much needed ! We also provide medical care, lessons and play. For these children from the hot dusty slums, the Safehouse and a little playground is a sanctuary.

Unfortunately the situation in Bali has worsened due to the increasing numbers of Covid and the lockdown of all activities. The Government has closed all businesses in Bali. There is no Government aid and we have more and more families coming to our Safehouse or begging on the streets, desperate for food aid.
