Story

In May 2025, I will be taking on my biggest challenge yet - a proper 'Cycle the Nation' where I intend on cycling through every county in the UK in one continuous route. This is currently set at 2220 miles, which I plan to complete in 15 days of riding at around 170 miles (275km) a day.

This is of course a huge logistical undertaking, requiring vast amounts of planning, not only to plan the route, but to work out where to stay each evening, where to have rest stops, not forgetting working out how to get to such places as the Isle of Wight, Shetland, Orkney, the Hebrides and Northern Ireland. Not only this, but there have been thousands upon thousands of kilometres covered in training in preparation for this - on top of working a full-time job and everything else that 'life' entails.

This Crowdfunder is to help maximise the fundraising for people like Alex and others like him, who need many things to help him operate in life. Manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, adaptations to houses, adaptations to cars, and we're currently investigating the option of some kind of exoskeleton as he's now got to the stage where he often cannot stand up, simply due to the muscle weakness (or indeed, lack of muscle use). Simply getting off the loo is a struggle that none of us have to even consider - but it's a factor, along with every single aspect in life.

I fully expect this to be my biggest challenge to date. But - I'm choosing to put myself through this. Alex has to endure this, just to try and get by each day.
