Story
The Challenges - 1st one complete
1) On the 30th April 2022, we will be cycling indoors for 24 hours straight with the aim of completing over 300 miles each in one sitting. (COMPLETE! See how we got on below)
2) On the 26th August 2022, Nick, Darren Andy & Ben will ride the entire length of the UK, from Lands End to John O’Groats, nonstop in a team relay, with the aim to complete the near 900 miles route in approx. 60hours.

The Reason
One of my longest and closest friends, David Gibbs, 37 years old from Bristol, has recently been diagnosed with Glioblastoma (GBM). This is a grade IV aggressive brain tumour and his outlook is poor, average survival time from diagnosis is just 12-18 months.
Dave's amazing NHS surgeon managed to remove 95% of the tumour from the centre of Dave's brain in a delicate operation, but sadly it will grow back. Dave has undergone 6 weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and now will have 6 months of just chemotherapy. This is buying him time but is not a cure.
There are other treatments available for GBM, such as immunotherapy, this includes personalised cancer vaccines. These work by taking cells from the patient's specific tumour and creating a vaccine which teaches the immune system what to target and attack. This is then injected into the patient every 4-6 weeks over the course of approximately 1 year. These personalised vaccines have had positive results, some people have gone into remission and long exceeded their initial prognosis. But these treatments are not available on the NHS or via private health insurance and are very expensive. The cost to cover this for Dave is in excess of £150,000.
