Our Cause......
We are appealing for donations to help victims of Cyclone Idai in Zimbabwe, with particular focus on orphans and vulnerable children. Cyclone Idai left a trail of death and destruction unprecedented in the region which saw many lives lost and property, infrastructure and fields destroyed.
About Us......
We are a registered charitable organisation based in Marondera and we have experience working with orphans and vulnerable children in the surrounding rural communities.
Who needs help......
In Zimbabwe, a country already in the midst of a protracted economic crisis and food shortages, urgent support is needed to help communities in the affected regions where thousands are homeless, and many are still missing.
How will your donations help......
Your donations will be used to provide basic supplies to the affected households and communities with particular focus on supporting orphans and vulnerable children with food, clothes, medicines, shoes, school uniforms, books, shelter, etc.
Why donate to us......
Our organisation is a registered trust that has been carrying out similar charitable work with orphans and vulnerable children in poor communities in Mrewa. We are accountable to our donors and our accounts are audited annually and we will provide an annual report of how your donations have been used.
The challenges......
One of the major challenges in this tragedy is delivering resources directly to the affected households and communities. We are on the ground and located in the region to access the affected communities. Humanitarian agencies have warned of more flooding, outbreak of waterborne diseases like cholera, and starvation if resources are not deployed quickly and efficiently.
What happened......
About 750 people lost their lives as Cyclone Idai ravaged through Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe between 14 - 15 March. An estimated 2 million people are believed to be affected as towns and villages were wiped out. Sadly, the timing and target could not have been worse, hitting already vulnerable communities in some of the continent’s poorest countries just before harvesting season.
Who is most at risk......
Sadly, it is the vulnerable children that are the most at risk, and take the biggest brunt in this tragedy. Consequently their needs have become more urgent, more immense and more complex.
