Story

CYNOPHOBIA - THE CRIPPLING FEAR OF DOGS

The Essex Dog Training centre provides the most incredible and much needed help for Children that suffer from Cynophobia.

They are a non profit, voluntary organisation which has no paid staff and for the past twenty years have successfully provided a unique free of charge service helping many hundreds of children who have an extreme and morbid fear of dogs and other animals which takes them and their families to the point of completely fearful and disruptive lives

The centre have experienced children whose phobias effect them in many ways. These range from locking themselves in cars, refusing to leave the house, loss of bladder control, the fear of touching anything furry including their teddy bears through to some children with the phobia effecting them so badly an attempted suicide by a 9 year old boy and other life threatening actions by other children as they attempt to avoid dogs.

The centre have designed specific courses that help rehabilitate children to overcome their fears and they are overwhelmed by the number of people wanting to get their children signed up for these.

This centre is not a charity or government funded and due to Covid-19 restrictions they have been unable to run their dog training classes in full which is the only source of income they receive towards paying their monthly rent and rates. They have had no help from the government and no rental break from the council and with no source of income are having to pay the rent every month out of their own pocket to keep the centre open.

This centre is ran by the most selfless people in our community, the volunteer instructors and dog handlers who work tirelessly to give families who have children that suffer with Cynophobia back their lives.

IT IS NOW TIME WE GAVE SOMETHING BACK TO THEM

Your donations will be given directly to the centre and if we raise our goal of £6000 it will pay for their monthly fees for the next 4 months and help the centre remain open
