Story
Hi my name is Stephen. December 2015 a few days before Christmas, my beloved mum died. I was left alone with BIG life changing decisions to make.
At four months old I had my eyes taken out. I am profoundly deaf ,have celiac, asthma and osteoporosis.
Because of my little problems, I was unable to stay in the home I had known and felt safe and secure in for all of my life.
To give mum a well deserved break, a few times a year I would go to Thomas Henshaw Court in Southport for respite. It was a no brainer, I made the decision to make it my new home. How glad am I.
I know all the staff ,more important they all know me and my needs .We have Bev our activity organiser. Every morning we have the newspapers read to us. I enjoy this as it keeps me in sync with the real world .Bev takes me to the gym twice a week. It helps keep me in shape, because I love the gorgeous food they serve me. We go out for pub lunches, Blackpool to see the lights, the Theatre, shopping, garden centre, and twice a year to Llandudno on holiday.
None of this is possible without our mini bus. The problem is ours is very old. We have been fundraising for a few years. we are struggling to raise enough in time. To make up the short fall we need £7.000. With the good old cut backs the home are unable to help.
Without it we will not be able to do the little things that make our lives enjoyable. I know I can't see but like the rest of my friends, we love going out .I can feel the warm sun, the wind and yes even the rain on my face delights me.
WOULD YOU PLEASE HELP US. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
