Weʼve raised £170 to To Raise Funds for the Ravenoville Hero's Memorial

    Story

RAVENOVILLE 44: THE ETERNAL HEROES' MEMORIAL was born on June 6, 2012 – exactly 68 years to the day since paratroopers of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions descended from the night sky to fight for, and liberate this tiny corner of Normandy.

Conceived, designed, built – and entirely funded – by Irish Dave and Céline (alias "Frogette") in the front garden of their home to Honour their Heroes, since June 2012 the Memorial has evolved in both significance and popularity among veterans, their families, local inhabitants and the general public as one of THE D-Day commemoration events. The veterans – the Eternal Heroes – are the stars of the “Raveno Show!”

My husband Nigel Barrett will be doing two commemorative Parachute Jumps into Normandy on the 4th and 5th of June 2017 from a historic Dakota Aircraft. He has spent a week in Holland training and qualifying with military static line parachutes. This was the first time he had ever jump out of an aircraft.
As part of the Parachute jumps Nigel wants to raise awareness of the fantastic memorial that Dave and Celine have created.
The memorial is a on going project and Nigel would like to raise some money just to help Dave and Celine keep it going as it is only funded through donations and by themselves. They also host several veterans each year in their home over the 6th of June period.
In their home there is a small museum with items/ artifacts that have been donated over the years by locals and veterans alike
If you are in the area of Raveonoville or Saint Mere Eglise go and visit this very personal monument, Dave and Celine will always welcome you.
Please help Nigel raise some money for this cause.

    Thank you

    Dawn Barrett

Well in just over a month Nige is Jumping again this time in Holland. He will be portraying British Airborne at Arnham so please consider donating to the fund. If we can reach a good target a percentage will be going to the British Legion as well

So the excitement of Normandy is behind us but drive to raise money continues. Nige did two successful jumps in honour of the paratroopers that jumped into Normandy on 5/6 June 1944. He also attended the ceremony at Ravenoville along with three amazing veterans and many others. He was humbled by the three veterans as they all signed the helmet he jumped in. The memorial in Ravenoville is a place that all veterans, Americans, British, French and Germans like to visit as it truly represents all that they did.
