Weʼve raised £890 to support local charities
- Funded on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
I'm Dani and the plan for this jolly half term week is to cycle 700 miles in 7 days and for every £10 raised I will cycle an additional 5 miles. So, if you really want to see me suffer then get donating more!
This unique situation the world finds itself in means races and planned holidays have been cancelled. The world had bigger plans for 2020.
But, I'm not about to dwell on what's out of my control or the fact that even my cats sick of me being at home. Instead, I thought I should start putting my legs to good use and start helping out some local charities.
Any funds raised will be split across three Norfolk based charities, they are:
- Big C: Big C provides valuable information about diagnosis, treatments, side effects and recovery for cancer patients within the Norfolk and Waveney community.
- Eating Matters: Eating Matters offers counselling for people with mild to moderate eating disorders in the Norfolk community.
- Norfolk & Norwich Hospitals: Norfolk & Norwich Hospitals Charity focuses on improving patient, visitor and staff welfare at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Cromer and District Hospital.
I'd like to say this is incredibly thought out... It isn't. My Ironman race was cancelled and I needed another goal to work towards. There's no real plan aside from heading out early before its too hot, powering on Soreen and hopefully to be back in time to remind the cat she's still stuck with me.
That's it for now, thanks for taking the time to read and if you still feel inclined to donate then fantastic.
I'm pretty pants at updating social media but feel free to follow the journey on my Strava account:
Hello everyone! Thank you massively for the donations so far, it really does mean alot to me. Half term has been pretty well travelled so far- it looks like I'm going to be going for 950 miles (at the moment) with all the donations included but if anyone wishes to continue donating that would be fantastic. The mileage is going to be capped on whatever it is Saturday evening so that then I have all of Sunday to complete it.
Hope you're all having a lovely half term in the sun and havent made any impromptu trips to Durham :)
The week has now been capped at 1000miles. Thats 142 miles a day!!

So today I hit the 1000mile benchmark. Wow. Thank you to everyone for the donations so far. This week has been more mentally exhausting than physically and I think what got me through was the sheer generosity from you all and the hope that maybe this would help, even if just a little. I've genuinely had the best week doing what I love and if me slogging away on a bike means that I can help make even a tiny difference then it means I've done something positive with my halfterm.
