This June DadSpace are hiking peaks with a purpose in the Brecon Beacons, Wales.

The Target: Raise at least £3,000

The Date: Friday 20th June 2025

What is DadSpace?

We believe dads need support too. Whether it’s the pressure to provide and overwork ourselves or navigating fatherhood, especially after trauma or loss, too many dads feel alone and suffer in silence.

That’s where DadSpace comes in... We create space, both in person and online, for dads to talk, connect, and grow. From walks and workshops to support groups and family resources, we’re building a community where no dad has to struggle in silence.

Brotherly Support at it’s Finest:

Peaks for a Purpose is our way of climbing further—both literally and figuratively—to help more dads, and to support the incredible work of Breast Cancer Now. Because families and communities thrive when we all support each other.

This year, every step supports 2 great causes.

50% of all donations raised here through our Just Giving page will be donated to Breast Cancer Now, who provide free support to women with cancer and their families. Click here to read more about "Breast Cancer Now" Charity or donate directly to them if you wish.

The remainder of the funds will go towards maintaining our existing DadSpace groups and launching more locations and events over the next year.

The Back Story:

In May 2023, DadSpace successfully raised over £2,500 by hiking Scafell Pike, (see highlights from that hike here). At that time, we hosted only one regular location in Maidstone every month. Since then, we have expanded significantly. Now DadSpace supports fathers and families across the southeast of England, hosting over 72 events a year where Dads can meet up and talk openly, aswell as seasonal events where everyone in the family can enjoy a fun day out.

Brothers on the Ridge: This year we are walking for reasons close to our heart.

“My Sister Emily has recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, and currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment. I’m incredibly proud to be able to help so many fathers through DadSpace, but I felt helpless when I heard this news from my Sister. Sharing this fundraiser with Breast Cancer Now is an excellent way for DadSpace to support fathers and their partners together. I’m proud to give something back — not just as the founder of DadSpace, but as a Brother. This walk is a way to support Emily, raise awareness, and stand with others going through similar challenges.” Denver King, DadSpace Director

“I am so pleased Denver has invited me along on the hike. Taking part in this event will raise awareness of two great causes.” Gary – Emilys Partner

Why We Do it:

The Sessions We host Are Needed.

We have fathers who are proud dads and just want to make new friends. We’ve had fathers dramatically turn their lives around, changing careers or kicking bad habits. Most importantly, we have supported several fathers who may otherwise not be here today, if it wasn’t for the unique “Brotherly Support Between Fathers” offered within each DadSpace.

This is what has spurred us on over the last few years, to reach new towns and be there for more fathers and families across the Southeast.

Brotherly Support Between Fathers – It Really Works

You can now find dedicated DadSpace groups run by local volunteers in Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Ashford, Faversham, Medway, Folkestone and Tunbridge Wells. But we are not stopping there... Within the next year we hope to add Dartford and Ramsgate to the map and host even more special events!

Much more than just a support group...

The award-winning work that DadSpace does is recognised by “Mind”, Kent County Council and Medway Council. We are proud to be considered “The Fathers’ Voice”. Through our members lived experiences and the panels/workshops we are invited to within local Businesses, Councils, NHS and Universities, DadSpace is now instrumental in conversations that could reshape modern parenting.

Please donate if you are able, and share our project with as many people as you can. The more people who know about these two great causes, the better chance someone in need will find them.

We look forward to keeping you all up to date with our progress over the next few weeks as we get ready for our big event.
