Story
Hi all, my name is Damien and I'm a trans guy. I've been binding to flatten my chest nearly every day for five years, which has led to problems with my lungs and ribs. Having to bind makes it difficult for me to exercise, go out with friends, get a job, and present myself the way I want to be seen in general. Being able to get top surgery will completely change my life for the better, both mentally and physically. This type of surgery is usually about $8,000. I asked my stepmom to look into how much of that our insurance will cover, and her estimate is that I'll have to pay at least $3,500 out of pocket (screenshot included). 50% of the copay would be due before surgery and 50% on the day of. Even if I don't have to pay any more than $3,500, I would like to have extra money saved for button up shirts to wear after the surgery, a neck pillow, the special soap required for washing my chest & copays for the pain meds, follow-up appointments & gas money to and from them. Thank you for reading my story and for helping if you can. Please don't feel that any donation is too big or too small, and don't forget to share even if you can't donate!
