Weʼre raising £40,000 to convert buses into sleeping, eating and educational spaces for the homeless

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

Two years ago, Dan Atkins (founder of Buses4Homeless) discovered a gentleman sleeping rough in a luggage storage compartment of a coach. This distressed Dan immensely.

Later that day, he bought a double-decker bus and began refurbishing it into a home for the gentleman. Fast-forward two years, they are now very good friends and gladly the gentleman is back in employment, has a roof over his head and is happy.

That got Dan thinking… We can help in this way, but on a much bigger scale.

The Buses4Homelss project is looking to raise £160,000 to refurbish 4 buses into spaces for Sleeping, Eating and Learning.

Two vehicles will be converted into Buses4Shelter, sleeping up to 40 homeless Veterans per night (14,600/yr).

One vehicle will be converted into Buses4Dining, providing meals for the Veterans.

The final vehicle will be converted into Buses4Learning, offering personal development and online vocational courses in order to help equip our homeless Guests with tools to re-engage and reintegrate into the community.

With your support, we can help those less fortunate with the first truly holistic approach to homelessness; a cause in desperate need of our help and attention.

The #Help4Sim campaign was where the idea for the #Buses4Homeless project was conceived.

Here's our friend Sim and the bus that we brought him 2 years back. This was the day we picked it up.

2 years on Sim has a home, full time employment and is extremely happy that we're doing #Buses4Homeless on a much bigger scale to help more people like him.

Sadly though, his 'kids' (the 3 dogs) didn't get to come with him. One of them had to be put down and the other 2 had to be rehouse by another charity.

#HAIRCUTS4HOMELESS

Join us on the 23rd October - 5-9pm where we are joined by celebrities, media and hoards of volunteers to help our homeless friends.

Here's some of the pics from our #Haircuts4Homeless event where celebrity stylists came and helped bring pride to a score of homeless people.

A Special Mention to an Angel

I reached out for help on social media and was contacted by an angel Jenny Roberts who offered us the celebrity stylist we needed. Despite the mammoth challenge ahead, Jenny has manage to turn this into a national and international campaign all in the space of 4 days.

Jenny has contacted many of her celebrity friends who have offered full support of our project and has now secured Dwina and her son RJ Gibb (Bee Gees) who have become the ambassadors of #Buses4Homeless.

Jenny has also appointed her good friend Lisa Voice as patron of our project.

For a number of years Jenny has been both an advocate as well as an avid supporter of the homeless and having recently lost a brother, this project is incredibly poignant to her.

Jenny's good friend and musician Tony Moore (Cutting Crew) has spent the last 2 days in the recording studio cutting together the last song her brother gave her. Tony has been supporting our project and will perform 'Something in Side So Strong' live on the 23.10.2018 to an audience of celebrities, press, television, volunteers, the public and of course our special guests the homeless.

For any information or to contact Jenny please email jenny@jenrpr.com.

Just heard you on the radio and think what you're doing is fantastic and inspirational. Give the government a nudge and let them know it's really not that difficult to put a roof over someone's head.
