On April 19th, I’ll be taking on the Manchester Marathon in support of the Rob Jones Foundation, a cause that means a great deal to me and to so many in our community. Rob was the former Treasurer of Greenfield Cricket Club and played an integral role in building the club into what it is today. His commitment, generosity and belief in grassroots cricket helped shape not just a team, but a place where people feel they belong. The Rob Jones Foundation continues that legacy by ensuring no player is ever prevented from playing cricket at Greenfield because of financial barriers. Whether it’s providing equipment, covering memberships, or supporting training costs, the foundation makes sure every individual has the chance to take part. Cricket is about far more than runs and wickets. It builds confidence, friendships, resilience and community spirit. For many, like me, it becomes a second home. The foundation protects that opportunity and keeps the game accessible to all. This marathon is a huge personal challenge for me, but it feels small compared to the impact this foundation has on young players and families. If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, you’re helping carry forward Rob’s legacy and ensuring that cricket at Greenfield remains open to everyone.
