Crowdfunding is the new way to raise money for a personal cause on JustGiving.
Later this year I'm intending to run in the Llanelli Half-Marathon in order to raise funds to split between my Air Cadet Squadron(1054 Llanelli) and for John Thornton's Young Achievers Foundation.
I've been an air cadet for the past four and a half years and during that time I've been flying, gone shooting, attended annual camps where I met many of my best friends today. Not to mention my visit to Germany with them, having work experience with the RAF Regiment and was part of the 75th Air Cadet Anniversary Parade this year at RAF Cranwell.
So now is my chance to give back to the Squadron which have allowed me these opportunities and many more often for free or a minimal price to allow the next generation of cadets to have funding to go and gain many of their own individual experiences and gain skills that will stay with them for life
John Thornton's Young Achievers Foundation is a charity I came into contact with again through cadets whilst doing an ILM Level 2 in leadership with them. The charity was set up after the death of John Thornton who tragically died in Afghanistan 2008 and was also completed the course I'm now currently doing. As such JTYAF was set up to fund young people to be able to support their personal development, pursue their ambitions an see the world just like John Thornton did. Today they're helping 19 different youth organisations to enable their youth to do just that.
