Story

I am so excited to join the Hernia International Team in November 2019. I will be part of a great team of surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and operating department practitioners. The mission is in a remote part of Northern Ghana , in a village called Carpenter. The plan is to perform over 300 hernia operations in 10 days for a group of people that have minimal accesses to health care.

In three operating theatres, we will be operating for 10 days for 11 hours to try to complete over 300 procedures. I am told it will be very hot and conditions will be tough. Early starts and long days...

We will meet up with a Canadian health team in Accra and travel north will all other equipment we need for the trip. The Canadian team provide primary care out in the villages - doctors, nurses, a pharmacy team, eye team and dental team.

I would be enormously grateful for any financial support you can give me to help with travel arrangements, and to help fund some basic surgical equipment that we need to take with us. Last year the team arrived at Heathrow with 47 boxes of kit all weighing in at 23kgs!

I cant wait to be part of such a trip and thank you for your sponsorship in advance.
