Story

Connor is 12 years old and has Scoliosis, which is a curvature of the spine. He has spent his entire life in and out of hospital, undergoing countless operations to try and correct his spine and make his quality of life better. He has suffered setback and setback and pain that I can only imagine. He has fallen and has had metal rods snap and protrude through his skin. Throughout it all I have never heard him complain and the strength and courage he has shown is humbling, to say the least.

Connor has not been able to enjoy things that other boys take for granted. He cannot kick a football around, jump on a trampoline or ride a bicycle. Connor’s frequent operations and long periods of recovery mean that he has missed most if his school life and has not been able to have the education and friendships that other children take for granted.

Connor is back in hospital yet again and this time is in a specialist Orthopaedic Hospital in London, undergoing more surgery. He has just undergone hours of surgery to have all metal removed from his spine to start over again. Connor currently has a halo fitted to his head to help stretch his spine in preparation for more serious surgery in a few week’s time. This means that he cannot move.

Connor and his family live in Cornwall, a 500 mile round journey from the hospital that he will call home for at least the next 2 months. Connor’s mother is having to take a break from working to remain by his side whilst Connor’s father remains at home with their other children and makes regular journeys to London, taking holiday or unpaid leave from work to do so. Connor’s parents are amazing and ask for nothing, so I’m asking for them.

Any money raised will help to provide for Connor and his family through a challenging and nervous time that I could only imagine. I am looking to raise money to help with travel and accommodation costs so that Connor‘s parents can be by his side. Any donations will also pay for things that will make Connor’s day to day lived experience a little brighter, whether it be a magazine, a game or a day to look forward to when he is on his feet again

Share Connor’s story if you can. Donate if you can.
